Add to that bright summer nights, proximity to mountains and lakes, and real winters with plenty of snow. Östersund Municipality has about 60,000 inhabitants.
Are you a law student looking to gain practical experience in court work? Are you considering a future in the justice system? Welcome to apply for a summer clerkship at Östersund District Court.
We offer you
As a summer clerk, you will gain valuable insight into the court's operations in the general department. The tasks correspond largely to those performed by newly hired clerks at the court. You will see how practical court work is conducted and receive general training in legal analysis and methodology. The overall goal of the summer clerkship is to provide the clerk with insight into the daily court work and the various cases and matters that occur at a district court. This is primarily achieved by giving you the opportunity to participate in practical work, such as taking minutes at both criminal and civil hearings, writing draft judgments, conducting legal research, and to some extent preparing cases and matters. Other tasks that occur at the court may also be included in the position.
Qualifications
We are looking for someone studying at the law program who has completed courses in procedural law as well as criminal and civil law, but you should not have completed your education before the summer.
You have good grades from completed parts of the law education as well as good knowledge of the Swedish language in both spoken and written form. You convey information clearly and simply, both orally and in writing. Other important qualities are attention to detail, analytical ability, good collaboration skills, and the ability to organize and plan your work independently.
Other
The summer clerk position is a fixed-term employment for eight weeks during the summer of 2026, located in the general department. To process your application, you need to attach your transcripts along with your CV and cover letter. It is important that you fill in all fields in the digital application tool.
Interviews are usually not conducted for this short employment, and great importance will be placed on your cover letter and how you motivate your interest in working as a summer clerk at our court. However, phone interviews may be considered.
We warmly welcome your application by January 23, 2026.
